The ADHERe centre has been commissioned by various state and federal government departments and not-for profit organisations to develop resources that benefit health care professionals, older people and their family caregivers.
The ADHERe team were engaged to develop short courses on topics including Delirium Care, Dementia and Driving and Gerontological Nursing. Each course is eligible to go towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for health care professionals.
The ADHERe team is available to deliver these courses via face-to-face/ virtual video conference events or we invite your own learning and development team members to use the material to deliver the short courses within your organisations. We can also work with organisations to provide you with access to the short course material for uploading or converting for use on your own ‘in-house’ learning platforms.
The Gerontological Nursing Competencies (GNCs) is an evidence-based mentorship programme developed to equip registered nurses working in the aged care sector with skills to assist older people in living well across all communities and groups.
The two levels of the programme, 'Essential' and 'Enhanced Leadership', are available online combined with workshop (virtual) activities.
In response to local aged care providers, needing support to access professional development opportunities for registered nurses and enrolled nurses, ADHERe worked in partnership with aged care providers and UOW to co-design resources for advance aged care clinical skills.
The Delirium Care: what you need to know education resource was developed by a panel of experts including dementia consultants and nurse practitioners in aged care. This resource was further endorsed by their wide uptake across NSW Health.
The online modules were developed directly from the Delirium Care: what you need to know resource. Two modules have been developed for registered nurses and a Delirium Awareness module developed for care employees such as an assistant in nursing or enrolled nurse.
The Online Dementia and Driving Education Module is a freely available 3-hour self-led interactive course for health professionals. It was developed with the support of Catalyst Foundation. Members of the ADHERe team are available to deliver this course as a bespoke workshop for your organisation. The course has been delivered face to face to 281 healthcare professionals across Australia, including over 100 general practitioners.
The Goal Attainment Scale (GAS) is used as a structured approach to create individualised goal setting, care and support plans. The workbook provides a practical guide to implementing the GAS with people living with a dementia.
The purpose of this course is to provide guidance on the first steps towards implementing person-centred care in care services. The target audience for this workshop includes team leaders, quality managers and learning and development managers.
